Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Businesses in Garda Region

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be affiliated with the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

having money, no longer make their appearance.
