Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Area, Warn Authorities

The fraudsters pretend to be Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, at times, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
