Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri, Police to Target Garda Area Locals

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not police officers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

if they seek money, disappear without a trace.
