Garda Area Scam Alert: Fake Carabinieri Offer Fraudulent Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to financial agencies, the police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — by dialing 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

desire money, and then disappear.
