Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions in Garda

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

These are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those completely unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by such individuals,

who, if they have money, no longer show themselves.
