Garda-area fraudsters impersonate Carabinieri in scam phone calls

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone contact with hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or the Comune police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by those who,

having money, no longer show themselves.
