Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

would need money, but then disappears.
