Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners
They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or even the Municipal police.
Detecting scams
They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
if they have money, no longer show up.
