Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the arm’s magazines.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they were after money, no longer appears.
