Scammers Impersonate Police to Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.
These are not police officers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.
Recognizing scams
They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or ones unrelated to law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
wants money, and then disappears.
