Scammers Pose as Police in Garda Region to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

How to recognize frauds

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
