Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Businesses

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they are after money, disappear and are no longer seen.
