Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Police for Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the military magazines.

These are not real military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Detecting Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who,
