Garda Scam Alert: Fake Police Impersonators Targeting Locals

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the army magazines.

They are not military personnel, but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you sense you have been targeted by someone who,

has money, but no longer shows up.
