Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Comune‘s vigilance.
Recognizing Scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you sospect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,
if they were after money, no longer show themselves.
