Garda Scammers Impersonate Authorities to Trick Hoteliers and Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to the Army’s magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, firefighters, or municipal vigilance.

How to Recognize Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to fake magazines or those completely unrelated to the authorities.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

desires money and then disappears.
