Scammers Impersonate Authorities to Trick Businesses in Garda Region

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

lacking money, ceases to show themselves.
