Garda scammers impersonate police to target local hoteliers and shopkeepers

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants of the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to arm magazines.

They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, firefighters, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they have money, no longer shows themselves.
