Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Commit Fraud

They impersonate Carabinieri when phone-calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing magazine subscriptions from the armed forces.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they are after money, no longer appear.
