Garda Area Scammers Pose as Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

These are not actual military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or municipal Police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately inform the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

desire money and then disappear.
