Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They frequently offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

have money, and then disappear.
