Scammers Faking Carabinieri Target Garda Businesses, Stay Alert

They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they are after money, disappear and are no longer seen.
