Garda Region Scammers Pretend to Be Authorities to Sell Fake Magazines

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have become a target of individuals who,

if they have money, do not appear again.
