Garda Area Scam Alert: Impersonators Posing as Authorities to Trick Hoteliers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the army.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
