Garda Scammers Impersonate Police Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Mid and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune (Municipality) police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, would no longer appear.
