Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda area, offering subscriptions to the military’s magazines.

They are not members of the military but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

asks for money, and then disappears.
