Fake Carabinieri Scammers Target Garda Businesses with False Magazine Subscriptions

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the armed forces.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

having money, no longer appear in person.
