Scammers Impersonate Police in Garda Area Phone Call Frauds

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement agencies.

So, beware and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,

has money, but stops appearing once they are suspected of fraudulent intent.
