Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making telephone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the municipal Vigili.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, if asked for money, disappear.
