Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Area Businesses
They disguised themselves as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.
These are not genuine military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.
How to Spot the Scams
They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately report to the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who,
if they ask for money, will disappear without a trace.
