Carabinieri Scam Calls: How to Recognize and Protect Yourself

They impersonate Carabinieri when telephoning hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to newspapers of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to fake magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.

So, be alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you get the feeling that you’ve been targeted by someone who,
