Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing magazine subscriptions from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have no connection whatsoever with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,

if they had money, no longer shows themselves.
