Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda, Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

So, be cautious and immediately inform the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, if they had money, unlikely to be seen again.
