Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

Pretending to be Carabinieri, they contact hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions by phone, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

having taken money, no longer shows up.
