Garda Scam Calls: Impersonators Pose as Carabinieri and Authorities

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the armed forces.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, firefighters, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
