Fraudsters Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Area Phone Scams

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone contacts with hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing magazine subscriptions from the carabinieri.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Comune‘s fire department.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect being targeted by someone who,

having obtained money, no longer shows up.
