Scammers Impersonate Police to Trick Garda-area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the force’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but con artists who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
