Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

Posing as Carabinieri, individuals contact hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering magazine subscriptions from the arm.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Comune (Municipal Government).

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,

if they had money, would not show themselves again.
