Scammers Pretend to Be Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

Pretending to be Carabinieri, scammers contact hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Medio and Alto Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the carabinieri.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
