Garda Fraudsters Impersonate Carabinieri in Phone Scam Alerts

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality‘s police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
