Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazines

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or to publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement authorities.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — whenever you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
