Middle and Upper Garda Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri, Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

The scammers impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army-related magazines.

They are not members of the military, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,
