Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Promote Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,
