Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Phone Fraud Alerts
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to publications of the armed forces.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.
How to recognize scams
They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those with no connection to the authorities.
Therefore, beware and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
