Beware of Phone Scams Using False Police and Carabinieri Identities
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.
They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune wardens.
How to recognize the scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
