Garda Scammers Imitate Authorities to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, beware and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, disappears and is no longer visible.
