Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Merchants

They impersonate Carabinieri when making telephone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering magazine subscriptions from the arma.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police force, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or to publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have fallen prey to those who,

having obtained money, disappear and do not show up again.
