Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not members of the military but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, firefighters, or local municipal authorities.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are targeted by someone who,

having obtained money, disappears.
