Garda Area Scammers Impersonate Police, Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal guards.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
