Scammers Impersonate Law Enforcement to Trick Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the institution.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police force, firefighters, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

having obtained money, no longer appear.
